PURPOSE:To obtain a compact and extensively applicable gas/liquid contact device by employing hollow filament consisting of poly(4-methylpentane-1) with a higher apparent oxygen permeation coefficient and a higher oxygen/nitrogen separation factor than specific values as a gas exchange membrane. CONSTITUTION:Hollow filament membranes 2 consisting of poly (4- methylpentane-1) as a main component with more than 4X10<-9> (cm<2>(STP).cm/ cm<2>.sec.cmHg) of apparent oxygen permeation coefficient P' at 25 deg.C and more than 1.1 of oxygen/nitrogen separation factors alpha(O2/N2) at 25 deg.C are inserted, in the form of a fiber, bundle, into a cylinder 1, with both ends sealed with a resin the open state. When a liquid is run through the hollow part of a hollow filament membrane 2, it is allowed to flow in from an intake port 4 and flow out of an ejection port 5. Then gas is guided in from an intake port 6 and discharged from an exhaust outlet 7 by permitting it to flow through the exterior of the hollow filament. Liquid may be run through the exterior of the hollow filament and gas through the hollow part of the hollow filament membrane.
