PURPOSE:To stop an image at a prescribed position without necessitating a fine adjustment for an alignment, by retrieving a desired image frame by an odometer retrieving means, and thereafter, detecting the end part of this image frame. CONSTITUTION:A device for retrieving a desired image frame 15 in an information recording medium is provided with an odometer retrieving means 12 for detecting and retrieving the feed quantity of the information recording medium, and a detecting means 22 for detecting the end part of the image frame 15. In such as state, by the odometer retrieving means 12, the desired image frame 15 is retrieved, and thereafter, stopped at a prescribed position by detecting the end part of the image frame. In such a way, a high speed feed can be executed to the vicinity of a desired image frame, and the image frame can be stopped at a prescribed position.
