PURPOSE:To detect the attitude of an object to be mounted on the basis of the gravity direction thereof, by allowing a pair of detection elements symmetrically arranged corresponding to the end part of a guide groove to output the value corresponding to the distance from a floating element. CONSTITUTION:A housing 10 is constituted of a square block 10' and the transparent cover 10b fixed thereto and a semicircular guide groove 11, columnar holes 12, 13 and a notch 14 are respectively provided to the block 10'. A light emitting element 15 is arranged so as to face to the front of the cover 10b and photoreceptors 16, 17 being detection elements are fixedly provided to the holes 12, 13 and the element 15 is arranged at the equal distance with respect to photoreceptors 16, 17. Further, the floating element 20 moving along the groove 11 corresponding to the rotation of the housing 10 within an X-Y plane is mounted in the groove 11 in a revolvable manner. When the attitude of an object to be mounted changes, the floating element 20 moves in the groove by the change of a gravity direction to stop at the position corresponding to the of the object to be mounted and the detection elements 16, 17 output the values corresponding to the distance from the levitating element 20. The difference between said values becomes the value relating to the attitude of the object to be mounted and processed to calculate the attitude of the object.
