PURPOSE:To facilitate cleaning and sterilizing of a lens by energizing an electrolyte to separate the same to an alkaline soln. and acidic soln., and cleaning the lens on the alkaline soln. side, then passing reverse current to the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Water 5 is put into an ultrasonic water tank 6 and a physiological salt soln. 3 is put into a cleaning tank 4. The contact lens 2 is put on the electrode 10 side of the tank 4 and the current is supplied to an ultrasonic generating circuit 21 and a power supply 18. The salt soln. 3 is electrolyzed by the energization so that the alkaline soln. is formed in the tank on the electrode 10 side formed by a partition wall 9 stuck with an ion exchange membrane 8 and the acidic soln. is formed in the tank on the electrode 11 side. The lens 2 is then cleaned by the dissolution effect of the alkaline soln. and the physical power of an ultrasonic wave oscillator 19. The charge to be applied to the electrodes 10, 11 is then reversed to neutralize the salt soln 3. The lens 2 is thus sterilized by the formed hypochlorous acid and the alkalinity is neutralized, by which the cleaning is completed in the state safe to the eye.
