PURPOSE:To shorten the molding cycle in the manufacture of a molded item by a method wherein the foam molding of polyurethane is done with a mold, to which a coating mainly consisting of polyol containing no curing catalyst and isocyanate is applied to a mold by spraying compressed gas together with amine catalyst. CONSTITUTION:At least on a bottom force 1, a coating 5 is formed by spraying a coating mixture mainly consisting of oligomer compound, which substantially contains no amine catalyst, and contains two or more active hydrogens, and polyisocyanate compound under the state that said mixture is being atomized by means of pressurizing gas containing amine catalyst. Foaming polyurethane starting liquid is poured in the force 1, to which said coating is adhered, and, after the forces 1 and 2 are assembled together, the foaming polyurethane starting liquid is poured in the forces for foaming so as to fill the raw material in a cavity in order to release a foamed polyurethane 6, which is integrally molded with the coating 5, by opening the bottom and the top forces 1 and 2 after the hardening of the foamed polyurethane 6. When in-mold coating is done in accordance with the above-mentioned method, the forming time of the coating is shortened and at the same time a thick coating can be formed by a single coating, resulting in the manufacture of a foam molded item with a beautiful coating film, with little detects, in a short molding cycle.
