PURPOSE:To obtain a black pigment excellent in black color degree and uniform blendability, by treating copper sulfide-absorbed high polymer resin powder obtained by treating a high polymer powder except fluororesin with a specific water solution with a water solution containing a silver salt. CONSTITUTION:A high polymer resin powder except fluororesin is immersed in a water solution containing a silver salt, sulfur-releasing compound and water soluble cationic compound and heat-treated to afford a copper sulfide- absorbed high polymer resin, which is then is treated with a water solution containing silver salt to produce the aimed black pigment. The particle size of the high polymer resin used has preferably <=100mu, especially about 60-1mu average particle size. These high polymer resin powders are preferably near true sphere to the utmost. A silver sulfide layer in the present method is applied to resin preferably in an amount of 1-20pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. resin from the point of black color degree.
