PURPOSE:To condense in a large area the image density of an original, etc. by one photodetector, by condensing a reflected light from the original by an optical collector, and converting electrically this condensed light by the photodetector. CONSTITUTION:The titled controller is provided with an image density measuring means for measuring the image density by a reflected light from an image to be copied, and a control means for controlling a picture quality adjustment to a latent image carrier (photosensitive drum) 1, based on a measured value from this image density measuring means. The image density measuring means is constituted of a condensing member (optical collector) 16 in which may fine impurities having a high reflection factor are mixed in a transparent substance, and whose condensing surface extends along the axial direction of the image to be copied, and a photodetector 17 for photodetecting a light beam from this optical collector 16. In this state, a light beam from an illuminating lamp 4 reflected by the original is condensed by the optical collector 16, led to the photodetector 17 and obtained as a voltage corresponding to the original density. In such a way, the image density of the whole area of a wide image can be detected by a simple constitution, and a distinct copy can be obtained. |
