PURPOSE:To attain mass production relatively easily with high accuracy even in the case of noncircular gear, by preparing a gear by applying a photoetching method to a sheet metal and then by laminating the plural elements so as to integrally join the elements together. CONSTITUTION:A sheet metal 8 of the prescribed thickness is prepared, and a photo resist film is applied to the whole surface of the above. After drying, a mask having a shape of required gear is positioned. The parts to be a spindle hole 4 and a locating hole 6, respectively, are previously provided to the mask. Subsequently, exposure is applied to the above by using ultraviolet rays, etc., to expose and harden the unmasked part 10 of the resist film, and, after the mask is removed, development is applied and the part 10 alone is left and the other part is removed. After washing, the part from which the resist film is removed is etched, e.g., by spraying an etchant, and a gear element 2 is separated and taken out of the sheet metal 8. Then, the plural elements are laminated according to required tooth thickness and integrally joined together by means of adhesives, spot welding, hot-pressure welding, etc., so as to be formed into a gear 1.
