PURPOSE:To efficiently melt and to control scattering of fluorine component by installing an oxygen burner having a burner tube made of Ni-Mo-Cr alloy so that the combustion flame from the burner strikes the raw material for glass contg. unmelted fluorine compd. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen burner 7 is installed at a specified angle on a wall 6 or a ceiling 3a of the furnace body, wherein the raw material for glass contg. the fluorine compd. is melted, and the combustion flame is struck the unmelted raw material for glass. The tube 13 of the above-mentioned burner 7 touching the inner atmosphere of the furnace is made of the Ni-Mo-Cr alloy and the water-cooling jacket 10 is provided also.
