PURPOSE:To facilitate formation of a tracking groove by using an assembly of high molecular weight materials obtained by arranging the high molecular weight materials of the same shape in a layer form, as an information recording layer. CONSTITUTION:Fiber form members with 0.1mm diameter formed from mixtures of a high molecular weight liquid crystal with 0.15wt.% of a coloring matter and fiber form members with 0.1mm diameter formed from polyethylene terephthalate 6 are alternately arranged, are then stretched in a 90 deg.C atmosphere to reduce the diameter of each of the members to about 20mum, and are arranged on a glass substrate 2. The stretching of the high molecular weight liquid crystals and the polyethylene terephthalate may be conducted by drawing, extrusion or the like. Though the recording density of a recording medium thus obtained is increased as the diameter of the fiber form members is reduced, it becomes difficult in that case to perform tracking and to process the liquid crystals. The diameter of the high molecular weight liquid crystal fibers 1, 1' is set to be 30mum, but it is extremely difficult to reduce the diameter to or below 10mum. |
