<p>This device essentially comprises rods (4) for slidably guiding a welding head (11) over a support (5), stops (3) integral with the guiding rods and limiting the travel of the head (11) towards a counter-electrode (13), stops (6) integral with the rods (4) and cooperating with an electrode (9) for causing the head (11) to move away from the counter-electrode (13) on retracting the electrode (9) and springs (17) surrounding the rods (4) and arranged between the electrode (9) and the welding head (11) in order constantly to urge the latter in terms of direction of the counter-electrode (13).
