摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce a monitoring device cost, by a method wherein output signals from an AE sensor are respectively compared in an independent band with a threshold value for processing by means of a tool breakage monitoring processing part and a machining load monitoring processing part, and based on an output therefrom, a control signal is outputted. CONSTITUTION:An AE sensor 2 is mounted to the machining part of a machine tool 1, and an output DS therefrom is inputted to band-pass filters 11 and 13 of a monitoring device 10. A frequency band F1, being effective to detection of a tool load, and a frequency band F2, being effective to detection of breakage of a tool, are selected by means of the band-pass filters 11 and 13. Signals M and L are inputted to a break monitoring processing part 12 and a machining load monitoring processing part 14, respectively, and are compared with preset threshold values C, D and A, B to output control signals CM and LM. The signals are inputted to a machine control signal generating/output part 15 to output a control signal CT. This constitution enables detection of tool breakage and monitoring of a machining load by means of the single AE sensor.
