PURPOSE:To improve efficiency, by a method wherein the cutting edge of a drill is ground based on a drill rotation angle and a drill swing angle which satisfy specified requirements. CONSTITUTION:The cutting edge of a drill 1 holding a plurality of rake surfaces is ground by a grinding stone 2 based on a drill rotation angle and a drill swing angle which satisfy requirements of An=tan<-1>{(tan beta n)/(cos alpha/2)}, Cn= tan<-1>{(tan alpha/2)/(cos An}, wherein An is a drill rotation angle during grinding of n-th rake surface, betan is an escape angle of an Nth take surface, alpha is a drill tip angle, and Cn is a drill swing angle during grinding of a n-th rake surface. By effecting grinding so that the above requirements are satisfied, a plurality rake surface having different escape angles can be easily machined without providing the grinding stone and the drill with an angle of elevation, and the efficiency of a drill grinding work can be improved. |
