PURPOSE:To change the visual feel of an image by rotating a uniaxially stretched film between two sheets of polarizing plates. CONSTITUTION:A phase plate 3 which is the uniaxially stretched film is disposed between two sheets of the polarizing plates 1 and 2 having the axes of polarization orthogonal or parallel with each other. This phase plate 3 is rotated, or the phase plate 3 is stuck to one of the polarizing plates and another polarizing plate is rotated. The angle phi between the optical axis of the phase plate 3 and the axes of polarization changes momentarily when the phase plate 3 is rotated between two sheets of the polarizing plates 1 and 2 having the axes of polarization orthogonal or parallel with each other. The visual feel to the image through the upper polarizing plate 1 changes correspondingly as well.
