PURPOSE:To recover the objective useful substance in high efficiency, selectivity and specificity, by separating the useful substance with a selective permeation membrane and an elutant using specific fine particles capable of bonding with the useful substance. CONSTITUTION:A ligand such as polyclonal antibody, monoclonal antibody, protein A and concanavalin is bonded to the surface of fine particles of polystyrene, etc., having an average particle diameter of 0.01mum-5mm, preferably 0.01-500mum and a specific gravity of about 1, usually 0.5-2.0, preferably 0.9-1.5. The treated particles are contacted with a cell culture liquid containing a useful substance to specifically bond the useful substance to the fine particle via the ligand. The mixture system is passed through a selective permeation membrane made of e.g. cellulose or acetyl cellulose having an average pore diameter of 0.005-500mum, preferably 0.01-100mum. The fine particles bonded with the useful substance are separated from the cell culture liquid by this process. The particles are made to contact with a liquid to elute the useful substance and the substance separated from the fine particle is recovered by the use of another selective permeation membrane.
