<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent restored image which has small deterioration in picture quality even when an error occurs to compressed image data by interpolating the data error part in the restored image with adjacent picture elements. CONSTITUTION:A dividing means divides all picture elements of an original image into plural picture element groups while putting plural picture elements which do not adjoin each other in the original image into one picture element group. Then the picture element groups are compressed by a compressing means 28 and then stored in a storage means 21. Then picture element data are read out of the storage means 21 when necessary, but a restoring means 29 expands the picture elements, group by group, to obtain the original picture elements. Then if a data error occurs in one picture element group of the compressed image data, an interpolating means 33 performs interpolation for the occurring error.</p> |
