PURPOSE:To make it possible not to have any effect on the judgement of the quality of a product in a case that the changes of driving force are same even when the starting positions of a forward motion are different by a method wherein the driving force after the shifting of a screw or plunger by the predetermined distance is compared with the driving force during the molding of conforming item so as to judge whether the difference between both the forces lies within the pre-set allowance range or not in order to judge the quality of a molded item. CONSTITUTION:The position of a screw is detected at the time when the driving force P1 which is determined in advance at a comparator 27 as the driving force at the start of monitoring is reached and, at the same time, the driving force P2 after the shifting of the screw 13 by the predetermined shifting distance is detected so as to compare said detected value with the driving force P2' at the end of monitoring and calculate the difference. An allowance after 28 sets the allowance (alpha) of the driving force at the end of monitoring. A product quality discriminator 29 compares the driving force P2' at the end of monitoring with the setpoint P2 so as to issue a conformity signal when the result of comparison falls within the allowance (alpha) and issue a non-conformity signal when the result of comparison falls out of the allowance.
