PURPOSE:To prevent recording signals at the front and the rear positions of a track to be inserted from being erased by disabling erasure currents in the periods of first and last fields to be inserted, and performing over-recording by increasing a recording current at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:The erasure current C is disabled in the periods FS and FE of the first and the last one fields in the period where a correction insert instruction signal S1 is set at a high level. At the time of recording by a recording and reproducing head, the recording current is increased, for example, by 30% than an ordinary current, and the over-recording is performed on a previous recording track. Since no erasure is performed in the periods FS and FE, and only over-writing is performed, it is possible to prevent the signals at the front and the rear positions of the track to be inserted from being erased.
