PURPOSE:To speed up recording and erasing by using plural compds. having the crystal structure of the same group on Bravais lattice to form a recording layer which makes recording and erasing by causing an amorphous-crystal phase change when applied with light or heat energy. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer which is provided on a substrate and makes recording and erasing by forming the two states; amorphous and crystal, when applied with the light or heat energy is formed of the plural compds. having the crystal structure of the same group on Bravais lattice. A compd. system which is of the same kind or the same in the crystal structure is usable for the recording layer. Such compd. consists preferably of 50-60% Sb and the balance Zn and Se. Since such multielement compd. has the crystal structure of the same group, the interfacial force to form crystal nuclei decreases and the speed of nucleation increases in the stage of crystallization, i.e., erasing. The magneto-optical recording medium which permits high-speed erasing of <=10mus, permits high-speed recording and has high stability is thereby obtd. |
