PURPOSE:To enhance an S/N ratio in reading, preservability and heat resistance and to suppress deterioration on erasing, by incorporating a ketone resin and a carbocyanine coloring matter into a recording layer provided on a base in a heat mode optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A ketone resin and a coloring matter are incorporated in the recording layer provided on the base of the optical recording medium. The coloring matter is a carbocyanine coloring matter, preferably a compound of the formula. In the formula, each of PSI and PHI is an indole ring, a thiazol ring, an oxazole ring, a selenazole ring, an imidazole ring, a pyridine ring or the like to which an arromatic ring such as a benzene ring, a naphthalene ring or a phenanthrene ring may be condensed. The nitrogen atom in the ring PHI has a positive electric charge, while the nitrogen atom in the ring PSI is neutral. L in the formula is a connecting group for forming a mono-, di-, tri- or tetracarbocyanine coloring matter, while X<-> is an anion, preferably I<-> or Br<->, and m is 0 or 1. |
