PURPOSE:To correct a difference between a room temperature (set temperature) generated varied with the setting height of indoor unit and the suction temperature of an indoor unit according to installing height and enable a coincidence between the set temperature and an actual room temperature to be attained by a method wherein a correction temperature storing means having a correction value of the set temperature and a position setting switch to be operated in accordance with the fixing height of an indoor unit of an air conditioner are installed. CONSTITUTION:In case that an indoor unit is installed at a ceiling and a heating operation is to be performed, a changing-over switch 2 is turned ON. As a user inputs a set temperature T set by a remote controlled unit and the like, the set temperature T is shifted by +3 deg.C as expressed in an equation of T=T+3. This set temperature T and a suction temperature (t) sensed by a suction temperature thermistor 1 are compared to each other: if a relation of t< T is attained, a compressor 5 is operated, and in turn if a room temperature is increased to have a relation of t > T, the compressor is stopped. In case that the indoor unit is to be installed below the floor of a closet, the changing-over switch 2 is turned OFF. In this case, temperature shift is set to 0.
