PURPOSE:To reduce the equipment cost and the revision in the network in case of expansion by connecting a line terminating equipment used by a subscriber of a small capacity to a higher order line terminating equipment of a larger capacity. CONSTITUTION:The line terminating equipment 12 is subjected to hierarchy control, the equipment 12 which is stored by a small capacity subscriber sorting as his own terminal is connected to the larger capacity equipment 12 and a required transmission channel is set in the digital line 13 in response to the production of a call from a terminal 11. Moreover, plural small capacity of subscribers are connected to the line terminator 12 of a large capacity and the digital transmission line 13 is used in common. Thus, even with a small capacity of subscriber, it is possible to use the line 13 efficiently and the high order line equipment 12 is used as it is in case of increasing the capacity, the performance of expansion is improved.
