PURPOSE:To quickly position records to a source file by providing a control record and storing source record information and outputting it to the source file and getting the control record from the source file at the time of starting a screen editor. CONSTITUTION:Source records are inputted from a source file 6 by a source record input means 5. A source record output means 8 outputs a new source record to the source file 6 at the time of termination of the processing, and a screen display means 7 displays means to be displayed on the screen on a screen display device 11. A command analyzing means 9 analyzes a command inputted and designated by a screen information input means 10. When the picture editor is started, a screen editor control means 1 displays the picture by an initial picture display means 4 on the basis of the control record obtained by a control record getting means 2. An end command is recognized by the command analyzing means 9, and source record information at this time is set by a control record output means.
