The device has a watertight case (12) that holds an electric motor and a battery to power it. The motor operates a propeller (14) outside the case. The case is fixed under the diver's foot by hooks (13) holding it on to the sole (11) of a shoe (10). A protective shell surrounds the case and the propeller and is clipped on to the case. It has openings in the top to direct the flow of water upstream and downstream of the propeller. The speed and direction can be regulated from controls fixed to the diver's belt.
