The invention relates to a pipe coupling having at least two half-shells, a sealing ring and a counter-flange. For simplification and improvement of the sealing efficiency, the following features are proposed: a) each half-shell exhibits a radial flange which can be braced against the counter-flange by means of axially acting bracing means; b) the half-shells together form an annular sealing chamber which widens conically towards the joint and has an approximately triangular cross-section; c) each half-shell exhibits at least one radial slit which passes through at least the abovementioned radial flange; d) pushed into the sealing chamber is a conical annular disc which rests on the conical inner wall of the half-shells and against which the sealing ring is supported.
