PURPOSE:To prevent the creeping up of an electrolyte from the end of a dipped wire by mechanically striking many fine particles against the surface of a drawn tantalum wire to form many fine spherical recesses on the surface. CONSTITUTION:Many fine particles are mechanically struck from the whole peripheral face against the surface of the drawn tantalum wire 1 with many parallel rugged streaks on the surface. As a result, many spherical recesses 2 having from several mu to several tens mu diameter are formed and appropriately distributed. The surface is then cleaned, as required, by chemical treatment, and smoothed. The rugged streaks are effectively removed by the formation of the spherical recesses 2. Consequently, the creeping up length of the electrolyte due to surface tension is reduced to the utmost, when the end of the tantalum wire 1 is dipped in the electrolyte as the terminal lead wire.
