METHOD AND DEVICE FOR STARTING SCARFING

PURPOSE:To enable scarfing with one worker by placing many thin steel billets as a starting member for firing on the flaw to be scarfed. CONSTITUTION:A scarfing worker carrying a torch 10 guides a piece of chip 7 from a case 8 on a guide rail 6 and slides it down onto the flaw 6 of a slab. The chip 7 falling onto he flaw 5 is pressed by the nozzle of the torch 10 and the corner is brought to red heat. When high-pressure oxygen from the torch 10 is blown to the red hot chip 7, the chip 7 is quickly heated and melted, and the flaw 5 induced by said melting begins to melt and the scarfing operation is started.
