PURPOSE:To stabilize the track jump operation due to a tracking actuator by detecting the extent of deviation of the actuator by a low-pass element in accordance with the drive voltage to the actuator and controlling voltage levels of accelerating and decelerating pulses in accordance with this detected extent of deviation. CONSTITUTION:A low-pass element 13 is provided to detect the offset voltage of the drive voltage to a tracking actuator coil 10, namely, the extent of deviation of an actuator 11. A level control part 14 is provided to control the accelerating pulse voltage in accordance with the voltage level from the low-pass element 13. Consequently, the accelerating or decelerating pulse voltage is controlled in accordance with the detected extent of deviation to always inject a kick pulse where the spring force of the actuator 11 is taken into consideration. Thus, the stable track jump operation is always performed even from the deviated position of the actuator 11 without energy unbalance.
