A device for acquiring an electric voltage signal to be processed by a microcomputer has at least one analog-digital-converter with a word depth of n bits that allows the voltage measured to be represented with a precision of n bits with few parts and with a uniform resolution in the whole measurement range of at least n + 1 bits. The increase in resolution is achieved by a few additional and economic components. The complete uniformity of the high-resolution measurement results is achieved by software routines in the microcomputer on the basis of simple comparisons between threshold values. The device is particularly suitable when a uniform resolution of up to 50 % larger bit depth than the bit depth of the precision converter is to be achieved with a microcomputer assisted voltage acquisition system.
