METHOD FOR REPLENISHING REPLENISHER IN COLOR DEVELOPMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent a developing soln. contg. a p-phenylenediamine type color developing agent from undergoing a change in the developing characteristics due to aging by adding fixed mole or more of a mixture having a specified molar ratio or above of sulfite to hydroxyamine salt to a replenisher for the developing soln. so as to prevent air oxidation. CONSTITUTION:A replenisher for a shallow tank type automatic developing device having >=1/600 ratio of the area (m<2>) of the surface opening of the developing vessel to the volume (l) of a developing soln. in the vessel is prepd. by adding >=1.0X10<-2>mol/l mixture having <=1 molar ratio of sulfite to hydroxyamine salt to a replenisher for a conventional color developing device having a low ratio of the area of the surface opening. When the prepd. replenisher is supplied, air oxidation exerts no influence on photographic characteristics, and the formation of tar is prevented. Problems such as an increase in green minimum density and a change in the blue maximum density are solved, and stable development can be carried out for a long time.
