PURPOSE:To accurately detect the position of a weld zone without being affected by noises by providing an image processor with a means which removes light components except in a direction perpendicular to the weld line from image data detected by a visual sensor. CONSTITUTION:The image data 8 inputted by the visual sensor is sent to a longitudinal line emphasizing filter circuit 10 for emphasizing longitudinal lines from the input circuit 9 of the image processor 7. For example, nine lateral variations in brightness are added longitudinally to remove X-axial light by the filter circuit 10 even if the light is incident on the visual sensor in parallel to the weld zone, so that it is not mixed as a noise. Further, light which is incident slantingly to the weld line also has its X-axial light component removed, so it is not mixed as a noise and only light crossing the weld zone at right angles is outputted from the filter circuit 10.
