PURPOSE:To efficiently utilize ultraviolet rays, by irradiating the water flowing through a transparent pipe with ultraviolet rays from an ultraviolet lamp through the wall of the transparent pipe. CONSTITUTION:This ultraviolet sterilizing apparatus 1 consists of a transparent pipe 2 mode of quartz glass, an ultraviolet lamp 3 and a protective case 4. The transparent pipe 2 is incorporated in and connected to a water passing pipe 5 in order to form a part of the water passing pipe 5 extending longitudinally in a continuous state and the tap water 6 flowing through the water passing pipe 5 asses downwardly as it is. The tap water 6 flowing through the transparent pipe 2 is sterilized by ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet lamp 3 to kill the bacteria or other microorganisms in the tap water 6. By this method, the adhesion of rust to the inner wall part of the water passing pipe 5 can be prevented.
