PURPOSE:To stabilize a liquid mixture which is composed of alcohol, org. acid and water and is used as a fixing or decoloring liquid for electrophoresis by allowing the alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt of an org. acid to co-exist in the treating liquid consisting of the alcohol, org. acid and water. CONSTITUTION:Esterification reaction of the alcohol and org. acid is prohibited if the alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt of the org. acid is made to co-exist in the treating liquid. As a result, the stability of the treating liquid is improved. The alcohol to be used for the treating liquid at this time includes, for example, methanol, etc., and the org. acid includes, for example, acetic acid, etc. The salt of the org. acid to constitute the treating liquid is preferable as the org. acid salt to be added as the stabilizer to the liquid. Quantitative determination of the free acetic acid is executed by a neutralization titration method and the operation thereof is carried out by hermetically sealing the treating liquid, making measurement after resting the liquid for a prescribed number of days at a room temp., and determining the remaining rate of the acetic acid and the forming rate of methyl acetate. The stability of the treating liquid is thus improved. |
