PURPOSE:To match up regenerative signals from two heads in their time base by providing a variable delay means for ether of the regenerative signals from the two heads having their different azimuth values and providing also a delay control means in accordance with tracking errors of the two heads. CONSTITUTION:Heads 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B trace their respective tracks T1A, T1B, T2A and T2B. The farther the heads 1A and 2A processed to advance positions for tracing against a track pattern, the faster the head 2A, i.e. a regenerative timing in the 2nd channel is made against a regenerative timing of the head 1A. similarly to this, as to the heads 1B and 2B, the head 1B, i.e. a regenerative timing of the 1st channel is advanced against that of the head 2B. Therefore, the direction of the tracking error relative to the length of the delay time is turned reversely from one field to another. When a delay time of a variable delay line VDL is decided by an output of a differential amplifier indicating a tracking error amount, then the regenerative signal of the 1st channel from the delay line DL coincides with the regenerative signal of the 2nd channel from the VDL in their timing perfectly.
