A tap is to be provided which allows threads of different diameters to be cut. Threading dies (14) are formed directly on a base body (10). Longitudinal slots (16) are formed between said threading dies. A bore (18) forms, in the region of the threading dies (14), a conical inner face (20), which is adjoined by a threaded bore (22). Seated in the bore (18) is an expansion body (24) which bears against the conical inner face (20) by way of a head (26) and is guided in the threaded bore (22) by way of a threaded shank (28). The expansion body (24) can be rotated relative to the base body (10) by means of a hexagon socket (34). <IMAGE>
