PURPOSE:To improve the strength of a film surface by maintaining the temp. of a coating liquid at <=35 deg.C and coating said liquid on a web thereby improving the film quality of the coated surface after drying and eliminating the need for the possibility of an adhesion failure. CONSTITUTION:The temp. of the coating liquid is kept at <=35 deg.C and the coating liquid is coated on the continuously traveling liquid in the case of coating the coating liquid contg. gelatin on said web. Since 35 deg.C is approximate to the collagen transition temp. of the gelatin, the crystallization of gelatin is accelerated and good quality film is obtd.. after drying. The coating liquid contg. the gelatin is exemplified by the coating liquids having the gelatin concn. in a 2-12wt% range; for example, coating liquids such as photosensitive emulsion layer, primer coating layer, protective layer and back layer of photographic sensitive materials and other coating liquids such as adhesive agent layer, color forming layer and rust preventive layer. The web includes paper, plastic films, metals, resin coated paper, synthetic paper, etc. The applicable coating system includes an air doctor coater, rod coater, kiss roll coated, slide hopper coater, extrusion hopper coater, curtain coater, etc. |
