PURPOSE:To calculate an appropriate photometric value as the whole field, by constituting the titled device so that a field is divided into a center area and a peripheral area, and luminance information of said center area is corrected in accordance with luminance information of the peripheral area. CONSTITUTION:A field is divided into a center area 9D and peripheral area 9E-9H, and luminance information VD-VH in each area is detected by photodetectors 101-105. A selecting circuit 111 compares the luminance information VE-VH of the peripheral area, and a reference value, and selects and outputs luminance correcting information V3 based on a result of comparison. The luminance information VD of said center area is corrected by the correcting information V3 outputted from the selecting circuit 111, and outputted as an appropriate photometric value V4.
