PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a cover open means newly by exposing a tape tensed at the front face without varying the thickness of a tape cassette largely in using the tape cassette and releasing the front cover through the loading of the tape cassette to the equipment. CONSTITUTION:When the tape cassette 1 is not in use, the front cover 5 and a slide cover 6 cover the tape 4a and the opening 14. In suing the tape cassette 1, e.g., a projection provided to the tape cassette holder and a part of a slide cover 6 are pressed into contact with other by the operation of locating the tape cassette 1 into the tape cassette holder of the equipment to move the slide cover 6 relatively with upper/lower halves 2, 3. Since the front cover 5 is supported pivoltally with the slide cover 6, the cover 5 is moved in the moving direction of the slide cover 6, turned while being guided by a guide part and the tape 4a tensed in the front face and the opening 14 are exposed by the slide cover 6. Thus, no cover release means is required newly.
