PURPOSE:To obtain the title prepolymer having a high glass transition point and excelling in interlaminar adhesion, by reacting a specified imide resin prepolymer with an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:An imide resin prepolymer (A) is obtained by reacting an aromatic compound (a) having a plurality of imide and amino groups in the molecule, obtained by reacting both terminals of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid anhydride with an aromatic diamine with an unsaturated bisimide (b) of formula I (wherein D is a bivalent group having a C-C double bond) and a diamine (c) of formula II (wherein R2 is a 30C or lower bivalent group) at an (a) to [(b)+(c)] weight ratio of 1/9-9/1 and a (b) to (c) weight ratio of 2-1/10 in a solvent (e.g., methyl cellosolve). Component A is reacted with an epoxy resin (B), especially, a brominated epoxy resin of a bromine content >=10wt% at an A to B ratio of 0.8-0.3.
