PURPOSE:To improve coat adhesion without spoiling quality of appearance by proper immersion on etching of a resin material to be coated before coating, using acids, alkali or solvents which corrode the resin material to be coated by an undercoat method. CONSTITUTION:When a molding of resin material to be applied to a high-class wrist watch with a facing, etc., is plated, an article to be coated is immersed in a chemical which corrodes the resin material to be coated prior to application of an undercoat. Then a proper unevenness generates on the surface of the resin material, increasing the surface area and at the same time, improving the surface activity. Consequently, the adhesion of a coat is enhanced, and the deterioration of appearance and quality of plating by the exposure of an internal filler does not occur, if corrosion depth is limited to about the skin layer of a molding of resin material.
