PURPOSE:To obtain only a pure signal component only by providing a signal transfer clock section and a smear transfer clock section to a vertical transfer clock, and extracting a signal component including smear and the smear component separately to exclude the smear component completely. CONSTITUTION:A signal component including a smear component is swept out under gates S1, T1, S2 and after a vertical transfer clock of a signal clock section is stopped, the gates S1, T1 are brought into an L level to transfer a signal component X+Y1 including the smear component Y1 under the gate S2. Then the smear component Y2 is swept out under the gate S1. During that time, the read of a horizontal scanning line is finished by horizontal transfer CCD sections 6a, 6 and the stored X+Y1 and Y2 are transferred to the CCDs 6b, 6a during the horizontal blanking period, while the electric charge of the horizontal scanning line is transferred to the vertical transfer section 2, the storage section is formed under the gate S1 and the vertical transfer is started again. The components X+Y1 and Y2 read by the transfer sections 6a, 6b are transferred sequentially and outputted respectively from output circuit sections 7b, 7a and only the pure component X is extracted from the difference.
