The present invention relates to methods for detecting and locating leaks in the wall of a body which can contain a pressurised fluid, for example a gas. The method according to the invention is essentially characterised in that it consists in applying a gas pressure 21 onto one of the two surfaces of the wall 2 to be checked, in applying onto the outer surface 19 of this wall, opposite the one on which the gas pressure is exerted, a film of a product 20 whose surface tension forces are fairly strong, and in listening using a microphone 8 to the sound caused by the bursting of the bubbles 23 produced by the gas when it inflates the film at the exit 22 of any crack 17 in the wall 2. <IMAGE>
