PURPOSE:To prevent twists at the rear end of a tube stock and to manufacture drawn tubes having high dimensional accuracy and less thickness deviations and less bendings by installing a holding mechanism holding the rear end of a tube stock in an axial line of a die on a carriage guided by a guide rail. CONSTITUTION:A holding mechanism 23 holding the rear end of a tube stock 11 in the axial line of a die 12 is installed on a carriage 22 running and being guided by a guide rail 21. The mechanism 23 coverts forward and backward motions of an acting piece 25a of an actuator 25 into rotating motions through a link 26, upper arm 27, rotating shaft 28, and lower arm 29 to open and close a holding pawls 24. The carriage 22 is pulled by the tube stock 11 by action of the friction force generated by pushing the pawls 24 onto the inside surface of the stock 11 and runs. Therefore, the rear end of the stock 11 is held by the mechanism 23 in the axial line of the die 12 and the carriage 22 runs with the rear end of the stock 11, so that stock 11 is drawn in a stable state without deviations of the rear end.
