PURPOSE:To obtain an output picture quality higher than the resolution, by outputting 1/N picture data by converting the resolution M times more accurate by performing two-dimensional linear interpolation on each picture element density in one block of MXM picture elements when the 1/N picture data are outputted. CONSTITUTION:One block is constituted of MXM (M is an integer of >=2) picture elements in accordance with the data A-D of four picture elements on the periphery of a picture memory 1. When the picture memory 1 makes an output, the output is made after the resolution is converted M times more accurate by performing two-dimensional linear interpolation on the density of each picture element in this one block. When resolution conversion is made by using a two-dimensional linear interpolation circuit 40, the circuit necessary for making the conversion is constituted of a buffer circuit 50 and the circuit 40. When the resolution is converted to four times more accurate, data of two lines quantity are line-buffered out of the picture data read out form the picture memory 1. Each value of the four points A-D surrounding a point to be interpolated is inputted to the two-dimensional linear interpolation circuit 40 and densities of interpolating points are successively calculated and sent to a printer 60. |
