PURPOSE:To decrease an emitted light quantity mottle, and to improve the quality by using a multi-optical fiber whose cross section is circular, and also, using it as a fiber tape on which its optical fiber has been stuck to a prescribed width in advance. CONSTITUTION:It is desirable for an optical transmission performance that the cross-sectional shape of the island component of a multi-optical fiber 1. Also, the island part is arranged by a bale-piled arrangement structure in the sea, and in order to obviate and reduce a mottle, this arrangement is suitable. The island component is formed by a core-sheath structure consisting of a core for executing an optical transmission, and a sheath for improving it, and as for the size of the island part, and its number existing in one piece of multi- optical fiber, it is suitable that the size and the number are 5-200mu, and 100-10,000 grain size, respectively, by considering a handling property and an optical transmission characteristic (mottle, light quantity). Also, it will suffice that both ends of the multi-optical fiber 1 or its tape are arranged so that the parts being adjacent vertically sideways or sideways contact closely. |
