In the case of a chair (1), the chair frame (2), which is arranged on the base frame (6), consists of two U-shaped frame parts (3, 4) and a crossmember (5) which connects the latter underneath the seat part (7) the U-shaped crossbar (10) of the back frame part (4) lying directly underneath the rear end of the seat frame part (3) and being connected via the crossmember (5) to the front U-shaped crossbar (12) of the seat frame part (3).
