PURPOSE:To miniaturize the run driving part of a recording medium and to reduce the weight of a device by driving the recording medium by a linear driving device being a motor for executing a linear motion. CONSTITUTION:In a recording medium driving device, a linear driving device 2 being a motor for executing a linear motion, especially, an ultrasonic motor 2 for generating a traveling wave motion by superposing a vibrating body 4 and a piezoelectric body 5 and an electrode 6, and vibrating the vibrating body 4 by applying an AC voltage to the piezoelectric body 5 through the electrode 6 is used for the driving part. That is to say, by pressing a recording medium (magnetic tape) 1 against the vibrating body 4 for constituting the ultrasonic motor 2, the traveling wave motion is transmitted to the medium 1, and the medium 1 can be driven in prescribed directions A, B. Also, by controlling the frequency and the amplitude of the AC voltage applied to the piezoelectric body 5 which is brought into contact with the vibrating body 4, the driving speed and the phase of the medium 1 can be controlled. In such a manner, the driving part including the motor shape can be miniaturized and reduced the weight of the device. |
