PURPOSE:To cool laser medium efficiently and to maintain a glow discharge state, by making laser medium gas to flow from one end to the other end of a laser tube having an output mirror and a rear mirror, and providing an aperture having a longitudinal cross sectional area in the vicinity of the upstream side of a discharge electrode. CONSTITUTION:Laser medium gas is excited with a discharge electrode 4, and a laser beam (a) is taken out of an output mirror 1. A longitudinal cross sectional area which is surrounded by an aperture 5 that is provided on the upstream of the discharge electrode 4 is made to be 0.5-0.8 of the longitudinal cross sectional area in a laser tube. The medium gas, which is made to flow in the laser tube 3, is efficiently cooled with a blower 6, and the laser output is improved. |
