A contact head for projectiles which can be fired out of electrically operable projection containers, which contact head has a sealing device for sealing the annular gap which is located between the outer casing of the contact head and of the warhead container associated with it and the inner casing of the projection container into which this projectile is inserted, and this sealing device consists essentially of an arrangement comprising a guide ring (which can expand and consists of elastic material) in the outer casing of the contact head and of a connection (which ensures the expansion and sealing of this guide ring) to the central propulsion chamber of the contact head, and accordingly to the combustion gases which develop from the propulsion charge in the propulsion chamber after ignition. The pressure of these combustion gases is in this case thus used, inter alia, for expansion of the guide ring and thus for the desired sealing of the annular gap.
