PURPOSE:To obviate leakage of an internal liquid and to maintain the good liquid junction state with a liquid to be examined by forming a liquid junction part of a material prepd. by intimately mixing and solidifying a material which forms an insoluble compd. by combining with water and water soluble emulsion. CONSTITUTION:For example, calcined gypsum (CaSO4.1/2H2O) is intimately mixed with a water soluble vinyl acetate emulsion and the mixture is packed in the pores to serve as the liquid junction part of a reference electrode and is solidified. The calcined gypsum reacts with the water in the vinyl acetate emulsion and solidifies by forming gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O). The packing effect is improved when the gypsum is packed into the pores of the liquid junction part of the reference electrode by volumetric expansion of this time. On the other hand, the vinyl acetate molecules are polymerized to form macromolecules from the emulsion state as the moisture around the same is lost. Said molecules solidify by including the periphery of CaSO4.2H2O and are thereby packed and tightly adhered in the pores. Such small pores and gaps through which the internal liquid pass directly as in the conventional liquid junction part do not exist in the compsn. formed in the above-mentioned manner. The outflow and leakage of the internal liquid are, therefore, obviated. |
